This newest boutique luxury hotel addition to Marriott’s Autograph Collection was developed in a historic landmark building designed by renowned Chicago architect Daniel Burnham.
W.E. O’Neil collaborated with Chipman Design Architecture and other partners to transform a circa 1914 building—the most expensive ever built in the city at the time of its completion—into luxurious hotel spaces. In this adaptive-reuse project, 158,000 SF space was converted into a 234-key hotel, spanning 21 stories above street level.
Amenities include bold and stylish rooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen facility, a restaurant that offers unparalleled dining experiences, meeting rooms, a chic junior ballroom, a fitness area, and an outdoor terrace.
Renovation included relocating HVAC systems currently serving the building through the 16th-floor office spaces, as well as installing new plumbing for the hotel in the ceiling of the occupied office space on the 17th floor. The structure is made of clay tile arches and is supported by a steel frame.
This 5-star boutique hotel perfectly complements the historic significance of the neoclassical structure and has become a premier destination in downtown Chicago.
