To provide upgraded and more spacious working space for their employees, the Tennessee Department of Transportation required a new 10,000 SF single-story free-standing building consisting of office space and maintenance/storage. The Aerial and Wireless Communications building houses the operations that manage TDOT’s radio systems, allowing crews across the state to communicate no matter the conditions.
The structure consists of slab-on-grade and pre-engineered steel frame. The exterior skin consists of pre-engineered metal wall panels, brick wainscot, and a standing-seam metal roof system. The interior features light-gage metal-framed partitions, an acoustical ceiling system, and resilient and polished floor systems. The new building sits on a previously developed 2.75-acre site.
