Located on the shores of the historic Duck River, Henry Horton State Park was constructed in the 1960s on the estate of the former governor of Tennessee, Henry Horton. W.E. O’Neil completed construction of a two-story, 7,856 SF Visitors Center and a one-story 6,382 SF restaurant on three acres of disturbed area within the existing park.
Both buildings are a hybrid structural system of heavy timber, engineered trusses, and dimensional framing with fiber cement. The scope also included upgrades to public spaces, access drives, parking areas, walkway improvements, upgrades to infrastructure work with site utilities, landscaping and all required related work. The restaurant has become a destination for both travelers and locals.
