We Value People. We Build Dreams.

We value the contributions, careers, and families of our employee-owners. We strive to create long term value and success for all, building great relationships along the way.

Learn more about our work, our values, and our people in the video below.

What We Build

We build mostly large-scale projects with smaller projects serviced by our special projects group. Our experience covers virtually every market sector using a broad range of project delivery methods.

Where We Build

We have 12 offices in 6 states across the U.S., and we build nationally—wherever our clients need us.

100% Employee-Owned

We walk around like we own the place—because we do! Employee ownership is a different way of doing business: each of us are 100% accountable and 100% invested. This creates a powerful dynamic that benefits our people, our clients, and our work.

Vision

WE value people.
WE build dreams.

We value our clients and other business partners. Our projects are the dreams of our clients, and many people, families, and neighborhoods are impacted by the projects that we build.

Internally, we also value our employee-owners: your contributions, your families. We are invested in building your dreams, your value, your wealth.

Mission

WE bring thoughtful leadership to the building experience.

We build buildings. But we bring a differentiating feature to this process: thoughtful leadership.

We collaborate with our building partners to provide the foresight and tenacity to ensure that the dreams are built and the people are valued.

WE build great relationships.

We prioritize developing relationships, both externally (clients, design teams, trade partners) and internally, with our peers. Like most people, we like to work with people we know and like. Our growth as a company and as people is directly linked to our relationships.

WE are lifelong learners.

Life-long learning supports our mission of bringing thoughtful leadership to the building experience.

  • We are committed to being a learning organization. Careers at W.E. O’Neil reward curiosity, innovation, and improvement.
  • We grow and develop ourselves every single day: small incremental investments throughout a career prepare us for challenges and enable us to seize opportunities.
  • We surround ourselves with great mentors. By tapping into our professional networks, we learn, grow, and teach.

WE are one team.

We actively seek ways to support each other as one team, and to improve consistency and efficiency.

We embrace the one team mindset with W.E. O’Neil colleagues across all of our offices, and with our clients, designers, and trade partners.

WE are forthright.

We insist on being forthright as a way of doing business. We address conflict and difficult issues when they arise, and we seek fairness in every way, at all times.

We strive to be frank, candid, sincere, clear, authentic, earnest, and fair in all that we do.

This is about difficult conversations and addressing conflict constructively and with integrity.

  • We foster no hidden agendas.
  • We identify and confront that which may compromise relationships or projects.
  • We communicate with the intent of shared success for the overall team.
  • Integrity and ethics have always been an important part of who we are.

WE own it.

We are a 100% employee-owned, ESOP business. It’s also about how we do business: we do what we say we are going to do, no excuses. We feel a high degree of moral obligation in this and hold ourselves to a high standard.

We don’t pass the buck. We own the project until the end through strong planning, execution, and monitoring. And when times get tough, we band together and deliver.

We don’t wait for the challenges inherent in our business to find us. We go looking for those challenges and opportunities, and we show up prepared to own them.

OUR CULTURE

We are driven by our values and our shared goal to build better communities. We support and encourage personal and professional growth, build strong relationships, collaborate to solve complex challenges and achieve award-winning results.

Opportunity and Growth

Developing our people is critical: you are our most important resource. We provide opportunities for career growth and impact through formal training, stretch assignments, and mentoring.

Great Relationships, One Team

We’re truly about building great relationships, and we pursue them actively. It’s intrinsic to who we are. We will care about you as a person, not just what you contribute through your work. You’ll be part of a vibrant community with activities that integrate employee-owners into the culture.

Leadership: Humble and Hungry

Culture starts with leadership. Ours are humble, hungry, approachable, and accessible. This effects the rest of our organization: we know that we’re in this together, and we check egos at door. Everyone here wants to do the right thing every time.
There’s an energy and willingness at W.E. O’Neil that you don’t see everywhere else.

More
Being an employee-owner means my opinion matters. It makes us all work harder because we care MORE about the end results. It also means I’m not working for a big, faceless organization. I am working for ME and this team. It means that I get to see my hard work pay off personally.
Melissa Lowry
Project Manager
It’s the people. We have great people at W.E. O'Neil. Not just great at their jobs, but great at coaching and mentoring, great at making sure everyone has a chance to succeed, great at caring about each other.
Brad Fry
VP, Organizational Development
My favorite WEO value is “WE Own it” because of how well it resonates on every level, internally and externally. We are 100% employee owned. We are committed to the company’s success as a team. We do what we say we are going to do. We do what it takes to get our projects across the finish line.
Matt Hoster
President (CO)
People stay here because of our senior leadership and their transparency with the employees, our people, the stability of the company, and the opportunity the company affords to those who want it. This company is unstoppable in my opinion.
Nicole Terry
Director of Administration
I’ve called W.E. O’Neil home for 13+ years because of the incredible people and opportunities. The people are aligned and committed to their values. Leadership actively listens and cares. And the organization’s growth has provided incredible opportunities to build my career and make an impact.
Matt Runyan
Director of Human Resources
To me, “Thoughtful leadership”—part of W.E. O’Neil’s company mission—is practicing servant leadership. It’s doing what’s best for those you’re responsible for, being the best version of yourself for others, and elevating others to be the best version of themselves.
Bill Hearne
Senior Vice President
I appreciate that the executives and project managers I work with always have an open door. Since starting full time as a project engineer over 10 years ago, I have been given countless challenging growth opportunities. I know that the sky is the limit here at W.E. O’Neil!
Chelsea Covate
Director, Core Services
Safety is our top priority on every project. We want our team members and every tradesperson on site to be protected from harm at all times.
Herb Dawson

W.E. O'Neil values growth and helps create career opportunities within the company. If you have an idea and a plan, WEO will listen.
Janet Perez

Leadership at W.E. O’Neil truly cares for our employee-owners and their well-being.
Brett Montgomery
Executive, Special Projects
We not only have the support and backing of our job's team. We also know that leadership values its employees and is always there to listen with an open door. "Building Great Relationships" is not just talk here. It's a real commitment proven by the great repeat clients that we get to work with.
Steve Moser
Superintendent
As a 100% employee-owned company, we all are creating our own wealth. That is incredibly exciting! It makes you want to work harder to increase the share price, and we have that money set aside for retirement. For our clients, it means we care and are committed to success for their project.
Stephanie Cotey
Senior Director of Project Services
Working with young builders is like working with a blank canvas—they have limitless possibility. I absolutely love it when our talented young folks take a fresh perspective. Seeing our young leaders grow and prosper is the most rewarding part of working in our industry.
Peter Cotugno
VP of Operations (Los Angeles)
It’s more than just building buildings. We care about our people and their development more than we do the bottom line. This encourages them to be good citizens as they go out into the world feeling more valued and fulfilled, and spreading the same energy.
Paul Ruig
Project Executive
For me, the most rewarding part of working in our industry is seeing the contribution that we make to the ever-changing skyline. It is also very rewarding to see the appreciation and gratitude clients have when we hand them the keys to their realized vision.
Saundra Price
Associate Director of Business Development
We have the horsepower to build just about any project, but how you get to the finish line matters. We believe in a partnership approach with our clients and we work hard to create a positive environment and an enjoyable construction experience.
Sean Jean
VP of Operations (San Diego)
Employee-ownership means there is an undeniable interest to develop and advance our employee-owners. They supported my decision to take on a field role as a Superintendent, equipped me with the tools I needed to be successful, and they continue to challenge me to grow.
Janel Redman
Superintendent
At W.E. O'Neil, integrity and doing things the right way are a way of life rather than simply discussion points. I am proud to be a part of W.E. O'Neil and stand behind not only our finished product, but the manner in which we complete the work as well.
Matthew Spoden
