W.E. O’Neil’s healthcare market sector leader in Chicago, Kevin Mraz, has expertise in overseeing and delivering complex projects for clients throughout Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.
Kevin leads W.E. O’Neil’s Special Projects group in the Chicago region and is an expert in nimbly delivering medical spaces on fast-track schedules.

Operating Efficiency at RUSH University Medical Center
For the build-out of a procedure room at RUSH University Medical Center’s main hospital tower, speed to market was the driving force behind W.E. O’Neil’s approach. The operating hospital space, which we renovated to incorporate new Canon imaging equipment, needed to be off-line for as little time as possible in order for the hospital to continue serving patients effectively.
Our approach to successfully deliver the new space in less than six weeks included extensive preconstruction planning. This included early procurement of specialty MEP equipment and finishes, as well as leveraging relationships within the subcontractor market to quickly engage key trade partners for the project.

Developing a Union Healthcare Program
Throughout the Chicagoland area, W.E. O’Neil’s team has been a key player in delivering the Union Wellness Coalition’s new distributed healthcare program for its members. In a design-build partnership with Gensler, we built six new wellness clinics throughout suburban Chicago. The clinics, each of which includes exam rooms, medical laboratories and wellness education spaces, are intended to provide more localized care for trade union members in their communities.
