As a part of O’Hare International Airport’s Terminal 5 building expansion and renovation program, W.E. O’Neil completed the 70,000 SF relocation for the terminal’s anchor tenant, Delta Air Lines. This comprehensive project included construction and relocation for Delta Air Line’s move from Terminal 2 to Terminal 5.
The scope of work included extensive active telecommunications infrastructure work to enable gate podiums, ticket scanners, flight/gate information display systems, ticketing kiosks, and podiums, as well as baggage services. The project involved extensive coordination with other ongoing Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) construction projects to ensure smooth construction and airport operations during the project.
Areas relocated or renovated included concourse gates M2-M11, airport customer service, line maintenance, information technology, training rooms, offices, conference and break rooms, electrical and telecommunication rooms, as well as exterior aircraft tug charging stations and warming huts.
