12,340 SF
The Hadley Library was long overdue for upgrades. This renovation’s goal was to enhance the areas of technology and life safety.
The highlight of the 12,340 SF renovation was the IDEALAB, a digital makerspace that includes a professional-quality soundproof studio where users can record music or make voice recordings. Also added was a new wireless system allowing visitors to connect to a fast and reliable internet network and 13 public access computers providing wireless connectivity and popular office software.
Additional upgrades include lighting, heating, and ventilation, and upgraded paint and furnishings. A new elevator and the second set of stairs facilitate basement access, creating a new area for the library to hold programs.
Enhancements addressed the safety concerns of the users and staff, including an egress stair from the basement to the first floor and reconfiguration of staff spaces, the children’s area, and shelving. The facility is also now fully ADA compliant.
