The LondonHouse Hotel was a reconstruction/renovation project that brought together old and new. A 1923 office building, originally designed by Alfred Alschuler for the London Guarantee and Accident Company, is now completely renovated and combined with a new slender infill tower directly adjacent to it to create a luxury boutique hotel.
The developer, Oxford Capital Group, led the reconstruction and adaptive reuse of the historic building, as well as the construction of a new integrated “sliver” tower to the west, creating a combined 452-key hotel. The renovation encompassed 305,000 SF of the existing 21-story building, with an expansion of 85,000 SF next door. Each floor of the pre-existing building now connects to the adjacent new tower, beautifully merging old and new.
Since construction was completed, the hotel has won numerous awards for the team’s ability to maintain Landmark status, the structural ingenuity involved in connecting the two buildings, and multiple awards from the hotel’s operator, Hilton, and the hospitality industry at-large.
