University of California, Riverside Batchelor Hall Systems Renewal

Originally constructed circa 1960, this 114,848 SF, four-story, cast-in-place structure is currently home to the Department of Botany and Plant Sciences for University of California, Riverside. With a basement level and a four-story core for routing MEPs, the building has instructional and laboratory spaces, classrooms, and administrative offices.

The team will primarily focus on replacing the core building systems, specifically mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems.

RENOVATIONS AND UPGRADES INCLUDE:

• Heating and cooling systems
• Ventilation systems
• Energy management systems
• Primary and emergency electrical systems
• Fire alarm and protection systems
• Deionized water and reverse osmosis systems
• Connecting the building to a standby generator
• Upgrading the existing alternate elevator
• Installing fire sprinklers in corridors
• Placing standby power panels on each level

The project will be performed in approximately five phases. All construction will be completed while the building remains fully operational, with ongoing research and learning.
