This multi-phased project to one of UCR’s oldest buildings, Pierce Hall, was a complete building renovation with the addition of new classrooms.
Initially constructed in 1966, Pierce Hall is a centrally located core-campus building of 66,723 ASF / 114,269 GSF. The building infrastructure project addressed life-safety code deficiencies, optimization of building performance, and operating efficiencies (e.g., energy, water, chilled water usage) through building systems infrastructure upgrades. These improvements also set the stage to realize program-based renovations within the existing facility to address evolving teaching and research needs, principally in the wet-laboratory-based science and engineering disciplines.
This two-year-long project received the Willis Tower Watson Safety Award for achieving an OSHA DART rate lower than 2.0 and is also LEED Gold Certified.
